Open the Door That Was Closed

Every animal at Sempiternal Sanctuary arrived because another door closed. Adoption and fostering are how new doors open — not as charity, but as a straightforward exchange: you have space in your life, and we have a soul who needs exactly that.

Whether you're ready to bring a dog or cat home for good, or you want to offer a temporary safe haven while we find them a permanent family, both paths save lives. Both paths matter. Both start right here.

How to Bring One Home

Adopting from Sempiternal Sanctuary is a thoughtful process — not a barrier, but a bridge. Here's what to expect from first inquiry to forever home.

1. Submit an Inquiry

Fill out our adoption inquiry form below with some information about your household, lifestyle, and the animal you're interested in.

2. We Reach Out

A member of our team will follow up within a few business days to learn more about you and answer any questions you have.

3. Meet Your Match

We'll arrange a meet-and-greet with the animal — either at the sanctuary or in your home — to confirm compatibility.

4. Complete the Adoption

Once approved, we finalize a simple adoption agreement, collect a modest adoption fee, and send them home with everything they need to settle in.

5. We Stay in Touch

We're here after adoption day too. New adopters receive check-in support during the transition period.

Foster: A Temporary Home That Changes Everything

Fostering means opening your home to an animal for weeks or months while we search for their permanent family — or while they recover from illness, surgery, or the stress of not having a safe place. You provide the space and the warmth; we handle veterinary care, supplies, and support.

Our foster network is one of the most powerful tools we have. Every foster placement frees up sanctuary space for another animal in crisis, multiplying the number of lives we can reach.

What we provide to every foster:

  • All veterinary care and medications
  • Food, bedding, and supplies for the duration
  • A dedicated foster coordinator as your point of contact
  • 24/7 guidance for medical questions or behavioral concerns
  • The knowledge that you are directly saving a life

Questions Worth Asking

We want you to say yes with confidence. Here are answers to the questions that come up most.

Do I need to own a home to adopt or foster?

Is there an adoption fee?

How long does the adoption process take?

What if fostering doesn't work out?

Can I adopt an animal I've been fostering?

Are your animals good with children or other pets?

Thank you for reaching out. A member of our team will be in touch within a few business days.
